a bit about me

Hi, I'm Carla. I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I know that it can feel hard to start talking with someone whom you don't know anything about. So here is a bit of information about me.

When folks first connect verbally with me, I usually get asked pretty quickly, 'And where are you from?' It seems that I have an accent. So, let's address this inquiry right off...I'm from Georgia! I've lived in CA for a decade and now call this land of fruit and nuts my home. I am a relational therapist. I receive feedback that I am experienced as warm and authentic.

Neuroscience informs therapeutic experience with me. New emotional experiences are powerful change agents to stuck ways of being. My passion is facilitating felt change via human relationship. I  am an Emotionally Focused Therapist who also works psychodynamically to facilitate understanding of self.

I earned my Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University and obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Georgia, minoring in Sociology. Prior to transitioning into counseling, my professional background includes a 13-year career in aerospace and defense. I am married to Tyler, my life mate.
